¹³ And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.

¹⁰ After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes^(A) and gave him twice as much as he had before.^(B)

Warriors Join David

12 These were the men who came to David at Ziklag,^(A) while he was banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish (they were among the warriors who helped him in battle;

¹⁶ They set out at noon while Ben-Hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting drunk.^(A)

²¹ Ahaz^(A) took some of the things from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace and from the officials and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him.^(B)

³⁴ and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.^(A)

²⁹ If, however, the bull has had the habit of goring and the owner has been warned but has not kept it penned up^(A) and it kills a man or woman, the bull is to be stoned and its owner also is to be put to death.

³⁶ However, if it was known that the bull had the habit of goring, yet the owner did not keep it penned up,^(A) the owner must pay, animal for animal, and take the dead animal in exchange.

¹⁷ God heard the boy crying,^(A) and the angel of God^(B) called to Hagar from heaven^(C) and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid;^(D) God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
